Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? Check out the most common questions we've received about IDinsight.

We know that the application and hiring process inherently leaves candidates with some questions, so we have tried to answer some of the most common ones we receive. If you have questions about a role, hiring process, or your candidacy, you can also reach out to us directly at careers@idinsight.org  for additional information.

Are all roles on your website accepting applications?

Yes, if a role is listed under our current openings, we are still accepting applications and are yet to fill the opening. Please apply!

Why are there so many open roles at IDinsight?

Over the next few years, IDinsight aims to grow significantly and our project pipelines continue to expand in scope and size. We are hiring the best people to propel IDinsight forward. We are hiring across all of our teams and encourage exceptional leaders to apply.

How has IDinsight responded to COVID-19 from a hiring and employment perspective?

As an unprecedented global pandemic, COVID-19 has impacted our entire sector. IDinsight has worked to prioritize teammates’ safety and the safety of the communities we serve. Our regional responses to COVID-19 vary by region based on the current status of the pandemic in those locations. We have worked regularly with our internal public health task force to prioritize data-driven responses to the pandemic for teammates.

If a role is available across regions, should I apply to each regional opening?

Given IDinsight’s regional operations teams have different hiring needs at different times, we encourage you to apply to each regional opening that you are interested in. If you are solely interested in one regional location, you should only apply to that opening.

Do I have to have work authorization in the location where I’m interested in working? Will IDinsight be willing to sponsor a visa for me to work from an IDinsight office?

IDinsight sponsors work authorization for international workers in our primary regions of work (Africa and Asia). It is very rare that we hire for roles in the US, and for the overwhelming majority of US roles, we would not sponsor work visas. We indicate in the job description of an opening if candidates without work authorization can apply.

I’ve applied in previous years and wasn’t selected. Can I re-apply?

Yes! Historically we have hired many individuals who applied to IDinsight one year and didn’t receive an offer until a later application process. For strong candidates who may have applied before, we often encourage them to apply again once they have gained additional relevant experience.

Will you let me know if my candidacy is rejected?

We aim to always inform candidates of the status of their application based on our hiring timelines. However, due to the rolling nature of many of our open roles, we may not send out all final candidate communications until a role has closed.

Why don’t you publish the salary range on your openings?

Given that cost of living and salary norms vary greatly by region, it is difficult to set a “universal” salary range that’s applicable to our roles. We, therefore, do not include salary ranges in our job descriptions but aim to discuss salary expectations with candidates during the hiring process.

What benefits does IDinsight offer teammates?

We are proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package for all full-time teammates. Our benefits package includes robust health insurance, fully covered mental health benefits, generous paid-time-off policies, technology and wellness benefits, and more.

How does IDinsight commit to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in its operations and work culture?

IDinsight’s commitment to DEI is rooted in our mission to reduce power asymmetries in the social sector and foster a more equitable global development landscape. We strive to build a workforce that reflects the diversity of the regions we operate in, including individuals from historically marginalized communities and those with diverse perspectives and experiences. We continually seek to ensure that our policies and practices are equitable and inclusive and uphold the dignity of our staff, partners, and the communities we serve. Our commitment enhances our methods, strengthens our partnerships, and aligns with our impact goals.

How does IDinsight support inclusion and safety based on gender identity and sexual orientation?

IDinsight is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and safe work environment across all its offices where staff of all gender identities and sexual orientations can succeed and feel a sense of full acceptance and belonging.

At the same time, IDinsight operates in multiple countries and recognizes that the laws, regulations, and social norms related to the LGBTQ community differ from context to context. Therefore, while IDinsight will provide safety and security resources for the risks faced by all LGBTQ-identifying staff, accomplishing IDinsight’s organizational mission requires the recognition of individual responsibility to abide by national law, and all staff are advised to exercise good judgment in consideration of public activity. To the extent permitted by organizational needs and limitations, IDinsight will consider personal needs and risks in the placement of staff or in potential internal transfers. While we have LGBTQ colleagues working from across different offices, we consider our Delhi, Johannesburg, and Manila offices as providing relatively safer environments for LGBTQ individuals based on the external/legal environment.

IDinsight has a network of LGBTQ-identifying staff who meet regularly to connect across our offices and ensure accountability toward LGBTQ inclusion in organizational policies and decision-making. LGBTQ-identifying applicants may contact the network’s representatives in case of any questions via lgbtqi@idinsight.org.
