August 8, 2022 IDinsight announces today the appointment of Essaid Azzouzi as a  Director in its Rabat office in Morocco. As a member of IDinsight’s Senior Leadership Team, Essaid, an agriculture economist by training,  will support the development and execution of strategic partnerships in West and North Africa, including in the agriculture sector projects, mentor teammates within the region, and provide strategic input to IDinsight’s operations.

Before joining IDinsight, Essaid was the deputy CEO of Millennium Challenge Account-Morocco (MCA-Morocco), in charge of implementing a $460 million USD program covering education, employability, and land productivity. Essaid was instrumental in the design of this program in his role as chargé de mission at the Head of Government Office. Previously, as M&E Director, he contributed to the management of a large multi-pronged program covering various sectors: including agriculture, artisan fishery, vocational training, SMEs support, and microfinance.

Essaid has also worked with the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Rural, and Marine Fisheries where he contributed to agricultural policy design and was instrumental in strengthening the role of monitoring and evaluation in informing decision-making within the Ministry. Essaid holds a Master’s degree of Sciences in Agribusiness from Purdue University, Indiana, USA, and is an Engineer in Agronomy who majored in Agricultural Economics at the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinarian Sciences in Rabat, Morocco. He speaks French, English, and Arabic.

“IDinsight has been a leading player in promoting evidence-informed policies in many parts of the world. In Morocco, and in spite of having only opened two years ago, IDinsight is growing and steadily strengthening its position thanks to its remarkable work with some major Moroccan development agencies.

Morocco is undergoing a cultural shift toward a large use of evidence in policy decisions, that materializes through major steps for the institutionalization of the evaluation of public policies and a growing awareness of the need to inform the design and the implementation of public policies with sound data and evidence.  I believe IDinsight has a major role to play in this dynamic.

I’m thrilled to join the growing and dynamic family of IDinsight and take part in its promising projects in Morocco,” said Essaid Azzouzi, Director, IDinsight.

“I am thrilled to welcome Essaid as Director in IDinsight’s West and North Africa region,” said IDinsight Regional Executive Director, West & North Africa, Cassandre Pignon. “Essaid brings exceptional regional and sectoral expertise to our growing team of Directors. His arrival further strengthens our team’s ability to support the transformation toward the use of evidence in policymaking we are currently witnessing in our region.”
