Inaugural Evidence for Development (Evi4Dev) Conference set for May 6-8, 2025 in Nairobi to tackle Africa’s key development challenges through innovation and evidence

11 November, 2023 – The African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), in partnership with ACED, ACET, IDinsight, Mawazo Institute, Speak Up Africa and Strathmore University, among others, are thrilled to announce the first-ever Evidence for Development (Evi4Dev) Conference, set to take place on May 6–8, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.

This landmark event will bring together policymakers, researchers, and development professionals to address Africa’s unique development challenges through deliberate engagement with science, technology, and innovation (STI) and evidence-informed policymaking (EIP).

In line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Evi4Dev Conference will offer an unprecedented platform for strategic conversations around data, research, and innovation in advancing the continent’s prosperity. With a theme, Optimising the Role of Data, Evidence, and Innovations in Africa’s Efforts to Create Wealth, Empower Citizens, and Foster Responsive and Inclusive Governance, the event seeks to position STI and EIP as pillars in Africa’s sustainable development.

Key highlights of the Evi4Dev Conference:

• High-Level plenaries and interactive sessions on wealth creation, infrastructure development, food security, education and health, with a special focus on equity, governance and climate resilience.
• Networking and collaboration with delegates having the chance to connect with government officials, researchers, civil society practitioners, private sector representatives, and the media.
