Rivandra Royono joins IDinsight as Southeast Asia Regional Director

July 5, 2024 – IDinsight is pleased to announce the appointment of Rivandra Royono as the Regional Director for Southeast Asia. Riv will lead our  Southeast Asia team in expanding and deepening our work in the region, helping social sector leaders increase their impact through data and evidence-backed solutions.

Riv has had a distinguished career in international development, with over twenty years of experience working in Asia and West Africa. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, with sectoral focus on education, food systems, and poverty alleviation. 

“Riv’s appointment marks a significant step forward for IDinsight in enhancing our impact and expanding our initiatives in Southeast Asia. He will be instrumental in driving forward our mission to improve public service, foster sustainable development, and build stronger communities in the region,” said IDinsight CEO, Rebecca Gong Sharp.

Prior to IDinsight, Riv served as the Regional Advisor for Country Capacity Strengthening in West Africa at the World Food Programme, where he worked to strengthen national systems and build state capabilities towards improved food security in the region.

Riv brings years of expertise in the education sector, including roles with the World Bank in Indonesia’s sweeping teacher reform in basic education, and with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as its principal designer for investments in Indonesia’s tertiary education sector. He was one of the principal data analysts for Myanmar’s Household Living Conditions Survey and served as the Senior Advisor for Performance and Strategy at Pulse Lab Jakarta, the United Nations’ big data suit for Asia Pacific.

Riv holds a Master of Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Engineering Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung.

With a team headquartered in Metro Manila, Philippines, and teammates in the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia, Riv will drive forward IDinsight’s mission to improve lives with data and evidence in the region.
