Lilay Berhane is the Chief of Staff, Africa at IDinsight based in Lusaka, Zambia.
At IDinsight Lilay supports the implementation of the Africa management/communication structure, runs special projects and coordinates all project staffing on the continent. He has also been managing the Learning Partnership with the Zambia Social Cash Transfer program at the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS) working on rolling out an M&E framework, supporting the design of a grievance mechanism and evaluating a cash plus pilot.
Prior to joining IDinsight, Lilay worked for McKinsey & Company for two years on public sector studies in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Zambia. Lilay also gained field experience working with the UN World Food Program for two and a half years in Zambia as a Junior Programme Officer and one year in Ethiopia as a Government Partnerships Officer.
Lilay holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Clark University in Worcester, MA (USA) and a master’s degree in International Development with a Global Health Certificate from University of Denver, Korbel in Denver, CO (USA).
