Anthony Billaud (Senegal)

Passionate about sustainable development and community-based projects to support partners in improving their social impact & combat poverty

Anthony is the West and North Africa Client-facing Director based in Dakar, Sénégal.
In this role, he is responsible for the region’s strategy, operations, impact, partnerships, and team. This includes the supervision of a portfolio of projects and the development of new projects to support decision-makers design effective programs and rigorously test what works to support communities.

He is currently the Director of the learning partnership with Togo MoH (data quality for maternal and child health), the Director of the MCA-Sénégal II learning agenda project focus on energy access and of the Yéré project in Senegal, in partnership with AMADES foundation, aiming to improve education and empower women and girls in rural areas of Northern Senegal. Recently, he led the WHO African Member States Emergency Preparedness & Response Feedback Survey.

Prior to joining IDinsight, Anthony was the co-team lead of the Strategic and Operational Partnership unit of the WHO Regional Office for Africa. He also worked for international NGOs (Medecins Sans Frontières —MSF) as a regional project coordinator and for bilateral and multilateral cooperation agencies as a technical assistant. He also led several multisectoral evaluations of public health and sustainable development programs in West, Central, and Southern Africa.

Anthony holds a PhD in Economics from the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS) of Paris, France. During this time, he collaborated with the Research Institute of Sustainable Development in Senegal.

He speaks French, English, and German and has a beginner level in Arabic and Wolof.
