Byron is an Associate Director based in Manila, Philippines. He leads IDinsight’s global M&E partnership with Google.org’s AI Collaboratives Initiative: an innovative ecosystems funding approach to addressing global challenges in the wildfires and food security spaces by funding and convening cutting-edge, AI-driven initiatives around the world. He also continues to support the Southeast Asia office’s efforts to build an impactful portfolio of M&E research and advisory projects in the region. Byron has previously supported a wide variety of client-facing engagements, including developing five-year monitoring and evaluation roadmaps for the Philippine Department of Health and Department of Trade and Industry, organizing one of IDinsight’s earliest COVID-19 response phone surveys, and providing flexible monitoring and evaluation support to a regional ocean plastic waste diversion initiative based in Singapore. He also served for more than three years as the Southeast Asia Chief of Staff, supporting Regional Directors to develop and implement IDinsight’s regional strategy, create and manage relationships with key funders and thought partners across the region, and contribute to organizational management among our Southeast Asia offices. Prior to joining IDinsight, Byron developed programs at a social enterprise providing access to solar energy in off-grid and underserved on-grid communities in the Philippines. He also completed a Princeton in Asia teaching fellowship at R35 School in Bangsak Village, Thailand and conducted research on East China Seas fisheries at The Nature Conservancy office in Beijing, China. Byron holds a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, magna cum laude, from Princeton University, with a certificate in Environmental Studies.
