Heather E. Lanthorn, ScD, MPH has been with IDinsight since 2016. As an Associate Director on the Research, Evaluation, and Data team (RED), she focuses on process evaluations and the meaningful incorporation of descriptive data—especially qualitative data—to improve decision-making. The RED team ensures methodological rigor to deliver results and contextually feasible recommendations. Heather collaborates with teams and clients in Asia and Africa, especially India, the Philippines, Senegal, South Africa, and Uganda. She is currently based in the United States. She focuses on health and education programming. She does additional work in social protection and community-driven development. Heather promotes internal learning to improve organizational and sector practice. She has helped with IDinsight’s transition to a wider set of evaluation tools and engagements beyond one-off impact evaluations. Heather serves on the Ethics Review Committee and Data Collection Working Group. Prior to IDinsight, Heather has worked as: Evaluation Specialist for the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) in India Program Associate with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) in Ghana Teaching Fellow for courses at Harvard University and University of Michigan Fulbright Fellow at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) in India Americorps VISTA volunteer in San Francisco Heather E. Lanthorn received her Doctorate of Science (ScD) in Global Health and Population from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Wake Forest University.
