Rachel LuSava (Kenya)

Rachel M. LuSava is an Associate Director on the East and Southern Africa Team at IDinsight, based in Nairobi, Kenya.

In her role, Rachel leads IDinsight project teams and develops new clients, primarily in the health sector. Prior to joining IDinsight, Rachel worked in maternal and newborn health with Jacaranda Health in Kenya. There she supported the rapid scale of a digital health program and nurse mentorship program with county governments and led several research projects. These included a randomized evaluation of an SMS intervention for postpartum women and the development of an automated teletriage flow for antenatal care during COVID-19. Before getting her MPH, Rachel was a Peace Corps Volunteer focused on youth development in Morocco.

Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Music from the College of William & Mary and a Masters in Public Health (MPH) in Global Health from Emory University. While at Emory, Rachel had a fellowship with CARE USA and was a researcher with Emory’s Religion & Health Collaborative. Her thesis on religious organizations supporting HIV Key Populations in Kenya was a finalist for the best thesis of the year. She is a dedicated Swahili student with intermediate skills and also has intermediate skills in Spanish and Moroccan Arabic.
