Rohan Raj (India)

Rohan Raj is a Manager on the DataDelta team at IDinsight, based in New Delhi, India.

In his current role, Rohan brings his vast experience of working on quick turnaround surveys to manage the execution of large-scale data collection projects across multiple states in India. Rohan also supports the DataDelta team in aligning SurveyStream system developments with project needs. He also works with the DataDelta R&D Lead to identify methodological and analytical tools that can be developed into new DataDelta services.

Previously, Rohan led the partnership with the Radiant Earth Foundation to create high-quality ground-truthed baseline geospatial data for Machine Learning models in agriculture. He also worked on a project with NITI Aayog to track the progress of key indicators of POSHAN Abhiyaan implementation in Rajasthan and Jharkhand. On this project, he led the development of a sampling frame using voter rolls. In addition, he managed the training and data collection efforts with a large field team to collect primary data on child and maternal nutrition and health across multiple districts of the states mentioned above through in-person interviews with over 2000 pregnant women and mothers of young children. Subsequently, he led multiple rounds of remote training and data collection through phone surveys to collect quantitative and qualitative data on child and maternal nutrition and health.

Prior to joining IDinsight, Rohan worked as a Research Associate at IIT Delhi, designing a study to assess the impact of software skills certificates on job-related outcomes. Rohan gained field experience in parts of Tamil Nadu while working on a project measuring the correlation between the duration of micro-finance membership and implicit gender biases among women. He also worked on a process evaluation to analyze the implementation of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups Dakia Yojana as an intern at Jharkhand state Food Commission.

Rohan holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Governance from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Banaras Hindu University. He is fluent in Hindi and English.
