Prior to joining IDinsight, Sania worked at the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS Foundation) with the public finance vertical, supporting state governments on data-driven revenue reforms, with a focus on tax administration systems. She worked closely with the Registration and Commercial Taxes Department and Finance Department, Government of Tamil Nadu and the Punjab Development Commission to identify avenues for revenue augmentation from stamp duty and registration fee through large-scale data analytics and strengthening Registration Department’s in-house decision support systems. She also prepared policy notes for Effective Capital Budgeting Project anchored with the Tamil Nadu Finance Department. Before that, she was a Fellow with Civic Data Lab’s public finance team, contributing to Green Public Procurement recommendations in Assam. Sania holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. She is interested in the intersections of state capacity, public systems and governance. She is fluent in English and Hindi.
