Valentina Brailovskaya, Ph.D., is a Senior Economist at IDinsight based in California, United States.

With over 7 years of experience leading and supervising the technical components of high-impact policy research projects, Valentina’s diverse portfolio spans healthcare delivery, social protection, education, and women’s empowerment across African and Asian countries. Valentina led the institutionalization of gender-responsive research across IDinsight’s global projects.

She currently leads the Digital Economy Research Impact Initiative (DERII) and provides technical leadership for Google.org’s AI Wildfire initiative, which leverages AI tools to enhance environmental management.

Previously, Valentina focused on infrastructure and financial inclusion research in Malawi. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from UC Santa Cruz and a B.A. in Business Economics with a minor in Mathematics from UCLA. She is fluent in English and Russian.
