Vishan Pattnaik is a Senior Manager at IDinsight, based in New Delhi, India. In his current role, Vishan engages with the National Institute for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) to improve the access and use of Indian government data. He manages a Project Management Unit (PMU) for the development of a National Data and Analytics Platform (NDAP) which aims at increasing the accessibility of Key Indian government datasets by tackling existing last-mile challenges. Previously at IDinsight, Vishan has worked with several government and non-profit partners to help them use data more effectively. He managed the set up, operations, and handover of a data management system to make COVID-19 patient data more usable by the Delhi Government. In addition, he worked with the Department of Education in Himachal Pradesh to improve the review and monitoring system within the department. Vishan has also managed a project supporting the non-profit, Educate Girls, to set up monitoring and evaluation systems that enable a smooth scale-up of operations. Vishan is a former Gandhi Fellow and worked to empower headmasters of rural Indian government schools to improve the quality of education in their schools. He has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Odia.
