8 August 2022

Jake will support the IDinsight team to build and maintain strategic relationships with philanthropic partners.

August 8, 2022 – IDinsight announces today the appointment of its new Director of Philanthropic Engagement, Jake Taesang Cho who comes to IDinsight from the Global Business Coalition for Education where he was the Head of Strategic Partnerships. Jake also previously served as Technical Advisor and interim Board Member for the World Bank’s Global Partnership for Education. In his new role, Jake will support IDinsight to optimize its revenue model and establish its strategy and systems to bolster the organization’s engagement with private foundations and individual donors.

In his previous role, Jake developed new pathways and strategies for effective business engagement in the global education sector and brokered strategic partnerships with corporations, international development organizations, as well as United Nations and multilateral agencies. The partnerships he facilitated in Africa, the Middle East, and most recently in Ukraine helped impact the education of more than four million children and youth. In addition, he increased the organization’s operating budget by 50 percent annually over three years through new grants and multi-year funding engagements. Jake also co-founded a mentorship organization to support educational and career opportunities for Korean youth. Jake has a background in teaching with an MA from Teachers College, Columbia University, and BA in International Studies from Korea University.

“At IDinsight, we focus on building strong connections with those who provide financial support – they are relationships, not transactions,” said IDinsight CEO Ruth Levine. “Jake’s deep commitment to global development aligns with that of our supporters and I look forward to him helping us reach new communities who similarly identify with our values and mission.”

“The thirst for insightful and actionable evidence is something that I’ve witnessed repeatedly in practitioners and policymakers alike during my partnerships experience in international development,” said Jake Taesang Cho. “That is why I am thrilled to be joining IDinsight to help propel its growth and empower more decision-makers to use rigorous evidence to improve social impact. I look forward to connecting with supporters who share IDinsight’s vision and forging strong, lasting partnerships built on trust and strategic alignment.”

Jake will join the IDinsight team on August 8th based in New York City.
